What
does Taryn mean? I dunno, I really haven't given it much thought,
you know. That's 'cause I've always taken it for granite...er,
granted, I mean. It's the only first name I've ever known and
sometimes people do tell me "oh, my, what a pretty name." You
know, like that and stuff....anyway, Taryn's not even a common
name in Ireland (and some say it's not even Irish), so finding out about it is rough, let me tell you!
But, anyhow, here's what we've found out about it
so far:
|

thanks to my new friend, Taryn,
for this plaque with our name on it! |
- mystical meaning: taryn is a
combination of the words tara,
a mythical Irish land of kings, and erin, which is another
word for ireland! now that's pretty darn kewl!
- convenient meaning: years ago (way
before my time, let me tell you) this actor
guy, tyrone
powers, and his wife made the name Taryn up for their daughter!
(tyrone <|> taryn - get it?)
whew! I think I like the mystical meaning a whole lot
better (nothing personal, Taryn)!
other possible
meanings:
{"loves everyone"}
{"hill or pinnacle"} {"carry or throw" in Arabic!}
{"innocent one/thunder"} {Latin for "the land,
earth"}
pronunciation:
...guess how many times people thought my name was
karin? they just don't wanna hear the
t
I guess! well, here's a simple guide to correct
pro-nun-c-aye-shun of my name:
- tear-in: this is how we say it around our house!
- tar-en: this is probably a more proper "Irish"
way to say it, I figure (or so my dad says)!
